1989- June 4th over a million Chinese citizens occupied Tiananmen Square in student run protest of the government that had lasted seven weeks. Troops used assault rifles and tanks to enforce Marital Law crackdown resulting in the deaths of thousands of citizens.

This was a harsh example of how badly things can go.
